Rodney Bigham The Heavyweight Champion of Comedy.
Rodney Bigham has never made any secret of his tumultuous life experiences and attributes his failed marriage as the catalyst behind his transformation from average joe to comedy genius.
Comedy came easy Bigham starting his career at age 28. He quickly became a familiar face on the stand-up circuit. His big break came after only three months of performing stand-up.
Rodney likens his competitive spirit to that of a prize fighter.
Coining the handle “the heavyweight champion of comedy”.
The stage is his ring and other comedians are his opponents and the audience, both the judge and referee. From minor brushes with the law to an accident that almost claimed his life. He relies on his faith and resilient spirit. Laser focused on perfecting his non-confronting, gritty, original, compelling style and unapologetic delivery over the years he’s developed a searing, incisive act that crosses all racial boundaries.
He pulls inspiration from everyday situations that comedy lovers of all ages can relate to.
Bigham say’s nothing is off-limits to him as his mom discovered while watching her son perform live on TV. His parents and family, people he meets, his personal missteps and current events all work together providing plenty of comical inspiration for his performances.
Rodney spent much of the 90’s appearing alongside legendary comedians, including Steve Harvey. Cedric the Entertainer, Bruce Bruce, Cat Williams and Sommore.
He’s performed on top stages; Showtime at the Apollo, BETS Comic View, Hip Hop Comedy Stop.
And the Improv. Headlining at top comedy clubs in Houston, New York and LA.
